REBECCA MENICHELLA

Rebecca is an Italo-Brazilian vintage curator and the mind behind Rubina Bizarre Boudoir, a project where her personal collection becomes a shared wardrobe. She has a soft spot for old-world glamour, expressive style, and her Nonna, who often joins her content and inspires much of her eye. Below she shares with us some fire questions we asked and the things she's loving right now.

"Attitude really is the key."

OO: Do you remember your very first vintage find?
Rebecca: Not my very first, but one of the most loved: in 2018 I found a pair of Chanel motorcycle boots from FW 2003, designed by Karl Lagerfeld. They’ve basically become an extension of my feet ever since!

OO: Your nonna is the chicest woman on Instagram. What fashion lesson has she taught you?
Rebecca: Growing up with her, I learned that attitude really is the key. The way you carry yourself says a lot, it’s all about how you choose to show up in the world: your posture, your presence, the energy you bring… that’s what makes style personal, clothes are a plus!

OO: What’s one piece every closet should have?
Rebecca: A tuxedo. I got a custom one when I was 16 and went through a phase where I wore it to every party. I first saw it in a scene from “Flashdance” as a kid, the shirt was basically a bodysuit with a deep open back, and the cuffs peeked out from under the jacket. I wanted to be like the guys: one suit, no fuss. But in the end … I prefer the fun chaos of my closet.

OO: What’s always in your bag?
Rebecca: Keys, wallet, lip balm, tangled earphones… and a surprising amount of forgotten paper scraps: dry cleaning, cinema, museums. Basically, my bag is part purse, part archive.

OO: Favorite city to shop in?
Rebecca: 1st place: Paris! (and Tokyo). Though I have to admit, some of my absolute favorite finds came from the most unexpected places.
